The week ahead features a relatively light macro backdrop, with focus on a handful of key data points that could help shape the near-term growth and consumer outlook. Tuesday brings March retail sales and pending home sales, offering insight into consumer spending trends and housing demand. Markets will also be watching Kevin Warsh’s Fed Chair nomination hearing, which could provide clues on the future direction of monetary policy.

Attention then shifts to business activity data later in the week, with Thursday’s S&P Global flash manufacturing and services PMIs providing a timely read on economic momentum. Friday’s final April Michigan sentiment report will round out the data calendar, particularly important given the recent focus on consumer resilience and inflation expectations.

Earnings season accelerates meaningfully, with a heavy slate of large-cap companies reporting across sectors. Key names include General Electric, UnitedHealth, Boeing, Tesla, American Express, and Procter & Gamble, which should offer important signals on corporate health and forward guidance.
